The Egg Machine is a new concept in farm retailing, we are proud at Bank Farm to be one of the first to have one of these machines in the country. Invented in Holland, we think these represent the future of farm shops ensuring local people can conveniently and safely buy local food.
It was installed in 2019, well before the dreaded coronavirus lockdowns began, but boy were we glad we had it! Before the first lockdown it was ticking over nicely but when eggs ran out at the supermarkets, our hens dutifully did their best and made sure that we never ran out! At the same time, a local restaurant, The Secret Garden was forced to close and in the spirit of helping each other out, the chefs there started to make more products for us to sell, from loaf cakes to cream teas and the now legendary brownies and sausage rolls. We make our own bacon, sausages and sausage meat that my mum turns into scotch eggs as well as making cakes, tray bakes and preserves. My aunt makes quiches and pasties, it’s a real family effort!
Plurenden dairy supply milk and yoghurts, Kentish Mayde supply lovely sweet and savoury pies and Barney and the pizza supply pizza kits. We work with our friends at Foodari who supply fruit and veg boxes and Yvonne Moo who supplies us with honey.
We constantly change the range, adding more products as they come into season and as the chefs get creative. One thing you can always count on though is we will never run out of our own free range eggs!
